About The Event

About this Event

Periods are extraordinary events. There's a lot of complicated biology going on, and many women experience significant pain. But very few people understand the biology and despite seeking help from mums, aunts, doctors, specialists, and others, women are often left with the idea that there is nothing to be done.

Professor Sonia Grover's passion and expertise is helping and empowering women, young women especially, to understand periods, period pain, and the often simple steps to take back life.

Professor Grover is highly published and is an exceptional communicator. Her writing for clinical blogs and public videos have become go to resources for both clinicians, and women looking for answers.

Here's a little taste from Professor Grover's blog on Period Pain and an example of the responses that drive her research and clinical work:

'The young woman looked a bit overwhelmed, and her mum said “nobody ever explained all of that to me when I was young, I was told that it was just bleeding and that I’d have to learn to live with it all”. I explained that I knew it was a lot to take in, and some of it was even a bit confronting, but it’s something that every woman can and should understand because when we understand what’s happening in our bodies it leads to less worry, less fear, and even, less of the pro-inflammatory chemicals at the heart of the very process."

It is an absolute privilege to have Professor Grover join us for an evening at Le Pub Home Brew and we look forward to her straight talking, science based (and not-uncontroversial) thoughts on this topic!
