In this Le Pub Scientifique, Lorimer will reflect on some of the clinical encounters that have kept him dissatisfied with his understanding of humans and their ailments and how he has used these clinical experiences to drive his own research and outreach.

Lorimer is a pain scientist, educator and coach. He has been involved with pain and human performance from one perspective or another for over 30 years. He is currently Director of IIMPACT in Health, Professor of Clinical Neurosciences and Chair in Physiotherapy, at the University of South Australia. He has authored several books and 350 research articles on pain and rehabilitation, attracting 22,000 citations with an H-index of 78. He has won awards for his contribution to pain science and practice in 13 countries, including Australia’s most prestigious prize for innovation and potential transformation in health, and the IASPs inaugural prize for clinical science. He has spent his adult life amazed by the fearful and wonderful complexity of the human and the remarkable capacity we have to protect, to heal and to learn.
